Plans are getting set for Leaside’s 100th birthday gala bash, April 27, with local residents Colin Mochrie and Deb McGrath co-emceeing the big event.
It will be at All Canadian Self Storage, 1 Laird, courtesy of owner Hal Spradling.
Mochrie and McGrath are both well-known stage and screen (both TV and movie) comedians.
During the gala, as well as the comedians, there will be a champagne/ martini reception with hors d’oeuvres, vintage 1913 dance demo and lesson, a photo op with a Leaside-built vintage Durant automobile, a gourmet buffet dinner and dessert, entertainment provided by the Toronto All Stars Big Band and a DJ and dancing.
Tickets will be available early in the new year and tables of eight can be reserved.
Part of the gala event is an exclusive offer to Leaside industrial and corporate institutions for an archival exhibit from each sponsor and logo representation at the gala. There will also be prominent logo positioning under Event Sponsor at www.leaside100.ca, Jan. – Dec. 2013.
There will also be an archival exhibit at the Leaside Library, historical walks and a biking tour, all with hope of leaving a legacy by setting the wheels in motion for a heritage conservation district study.
Volunteers are needed for all these projects.
www.leaside100.ca will soon have links to the gala.
