Reconnecting with Thorncliffe Park

The big gala that Leaside resident Bill Pashby helped organize to pull Leaside and Thorncliffe Park back to close association raised $130,000 on Nov. 19, with help from sponsors that included D&H Corporation of Leaside.

Part of the money will help some of the 7,000 children in Thorncliffe and Flemingdon Park attend summer camps in the schools in the area. The money will also go for baby food and diapers for poor families and the Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office’s program to prevent domestic violence.

The TNO was celebrating its 30th anniversary. The gala was at the new Islamic Cultural Centre on Wynford Dr., with catering by Mark McEwan and Premier Kathleen Wynne as guest speaker.
