Leasiders worried that zoning changes proposed at the LRT stations could lead to big high-rise development were partly calmed at a city meeting recently.
The changes are needed by Metrolinx to construct the underground stations only.
Rumours have been swirling about high-rise proposals involving the quadra-plexes on Bayview south of the former McDonald’s at Eglinton.
City planner Brian Gallaugher said any plans for new development must go through the usual public processes.
Five Leaside girls and one boy, between 11 and 13, raised $650 by singing Christmas carols at three local restaurants to help renovate the Trace Manes playground as part of the Georgina Walsh memorial project.
Emilie Chodat grabbed the idea from her father Steve, rounded up friends she knew could sing, and visited Against the Grain, Leaside Pub, and the Local, where they were cheered.
Georgia Walsh was the young girl killed in a car accident at McRae and Millwood in 2013. Her mother, Jillian Walsh, accompanied the choir and said a fundraising project will be launched early this year.
You can see a video of the choir at the South Bayview Bulldog blog, in a Dec. 17 entry.
