North Leaside resident Becky White’s passion for helping her four-legged friends has led to a fundraising effort beyond Canada’s borders.
White organizes collar and leash drives for animal rescue organizations such as the Canadian Animal Assistance Team (CAAT).
Now she’s doing it for HelPaws, in St. Lucia, a charity started by Canadian expat Charlene Penney.
It’s a joint spay/neuter project between CAAT and HelPaws.
White is calling on Leasiders to donate new and gently worn collars and leashes.
To get the drive off the ground White purchased some dog collars and a few cat collars from Rexall Pharma Plus who had a box full of them in their clearance section. Rexall gave her an additional 20 percent off.
She is collecting until the middle of this month. There’s a bin on White’s front porch at 49 Glenvale Blvd.
