Skaters end Quebec sweep

The Leaside Novice Synchronized Skating Team came in second at Skate Canada’s national competition.

The Leaside Novice Synchronized Skating Team came in second at Skate Canada’s national competition in Calgary earlier this year, ensuring that the annual event was not another sweep by teams from Quebec, as has been the case in recent years.

According to head coach Meredith Tutching, “The team skated two amazing performances that earned them a spot on the podium.”

Of the over 20 girls synchro teams in Ontario, Leaside is the only novice team based in Toronto.

Tutching is one of hundreds of talented skaters who trained several years at Leaside Skating Club. She began her synchro career here and returned to coach several years ago.

Her novice teams have won two silvers and several bronze medals.
