As teacher Alice Malach summed it up: “A very successful Kiwanis season”.

If you were wondering what happened with choral singing at Northlea after Mitch Bondy retired, here is what happened at this year’s Kiwanis Music Festival.

  • Grade 3 choir received a mark of 89, gold standard, and a first place.
  • Grade 4 choir received a mark of 92 percent, platinum standard.
  • Grade 5/6 choir received a mark of 90 percent, gold standard on one appearance, and a mark of 91, gold standard and a first place standing earlier.

The grade 3 choir is co-directed by teachers Christina Loucks and Alice Malach. The other choirs are directed by Alice Malach.

The week following the Kiwanis Festival, the grade 1 and grade 2 choirs were in the Toronto District School Board Non-Competitive Choral Festival, where they had the treat of being adjudicated by Mitch Bondy and participating in workshops he led as well.
