Mark your calendars – April 18 is Leaside Earth Day

Don't Mess With Leaside

Each year in April, people around the world celebrate Earth Day, supporting environmental protection through activities like planting trees, promoting sustainability, and cleaning up litter.

This April, Don’t Mess With Leaside (DMWL) is launching our very own Leaside Earth Day on Sat., April 18, with a community-wide effort focused on cleaning up litter in our neighbourhood streets, parks, schools, and business areas.

In support of our tagline, “Keep Leaside Beautiful and Litter Free,” DMWL is introducing two cleanup initiatives. To make Leaside Earth Day a great success, we are looking for environmental community leaders and volunteers to join us and demonstrate how much we care about keeping Leaside clean and beautiful.

  1. Community litter cleanup

Community members are invited to sign up and join the DMWL team to clean up pre-selected areas of Leaside. Participants will be provided with eco-friendly supplies and safety guidelines to help collect litter.

If you are interested in participating on April 18, please email and let us know whether you would like to volunteer or serve as a team leader to assist with organizing and supporting the event. In early April, we will send a follow-up email with full details about the Leaside event.

  1. Family litter pick-up and contest

DMWL is also encouraging Leaside families to help clean up litter in their own neighbourhood on Leaside Earth Day. Participants can enter a contest draw to win a Bayview store gift certificate by submitting:

  • – A photo showing the litter you collected
  • – Your contact details

Email entries to .

If you can’t join on April 18, you can still take part by cleaning up litter between Sun., April 19, and Sat., April 25.

Photo entries must be submitted by Sun., April 26, and contest winners will be announced in the June issue of Leaside Life.

Let’s come together on April 18 to show how much we all care about keeping Leaside beautiful and litter free. This event is a great opportunity to connect with neighbours, take pride in our community, and have a positive impact on our environment. See ad above.
