Ways to reduce aircraft noise over Leaside and neighbouring areas are being sought by the Canadian government and airlines, says Lisa Raitt, Canada’s minister of transport.
She was speaking at a roundtable discussion, hosted by Don Valley Wests MP John Carmichael, with the Leaside Property Owners’ Association and other interested groups early in August.
Carmichael reported after the meeting that Raitt said she “was working with key industry stakeholders to develop practical solutions and greater transparency in the decision-making process for flight paths, something that was well appreciated by all those in attendance.
“The discussion highlighted efforts by the air industry to reduce noise, such as the use of new technologies, more efficient and quieter planes, and mandatory noise abatement procedures by airports.”
