Peter Mahovlich III accepted the hall of fame induction plaque on behalf of his father, Peter Mahovlich Jr., who is recovering from surgery. In his remarks he noted that his grandfather, Peter Mahovlich Sr. (who ran the pro shop at Leaside Gardens) died from prostate cancer, and that both Frank Mahovlich, and Peter Mahovlich Jr. were prostate cancer survivors. With him is his wife Lori and children Michael and Miranda. Leaside resident Bill Pashby, along with his granddaughter Grace Murphy, accepted on behalf of his father the late Dr. Tom Pashby, a pioneer in Sports safety and also a member of Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada. Joe and Nancy McCabe, parents of Leaside’s first Athlete of the Year, Olympic swimmer Martha McCabe, who could not attend the reception because she is training in Florida.
