There’s a new principal and a new approach to learning at St. Anselm’s school.
Since he arrived in April this year Richard Walo has been bringing in furniture that’s easily moved, creating multi-purpose shelv-ing, installing wi-fi, changing the décor – and bringing in Twitter.
This new look comes originally from Scandinavia’s Learnings Commons program, and St. Anselm’s will be the first school to try it in the Catholic school board.
The aim is to create an atmosphere and physical environment so students can collaborate with others.
Walo believes Twitter will be the best way of communicating with partners, parents and the community.
“What I think will engage the public is Twitter. It’s short, it’s to the point. Everybody in the community benefits from the strength of the school.”
