“I’ve always wanted to try and capture the beauty of Bessborough (above) and this gave me the opportunity to do so,” he wrote. “Thank you!” He wins a Leaside Matters canvas bag.

The photo at right, by Sarah Lee, a grade 4 student at Rolph Road school, is the Kids winner of the same contest. She wins a Leaside Matters t-shirt.

She took the photo of the rear entrance of the school from Randolph Rd. She likes to take photos with the family’s smart phones.

Why a photo contest?

Connor Turnbull, co-chair of Leaside Matters, explains:

“Leaside Matters wanted to invite people to pause and take stock of what is around them every day and to think about what makes Leaside feel the way it does to the majority of people who live here.”
