New Gyro is eco friendly

Hyundai is known for some of the greenest cars in the automotive industry, including the Elantra, the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s 2012 Canadian Car of the Year.

It’s appropriate then that when Gyro Auto Group partners J.P. Kovac, Paul Kmet and Jim Krigos held the grand opening Nov. 8 at their new dealership, Gyro Hyundai, guests got to take in all the eco-friendly aspects of the new facility at 127 Laird Dr.

Its green roof uses sedum, or what’s more commonly known as stonecrops, a leafy, succulent plant that needs little moisture to survive. Using permeable paving stones that help retain the water that falls on the roof, it’s able to significantly reduce harmful runoff while also helping heat and cool the building.

Add in LED lighting, high efficiency heating and cooling systems and a total commitment to recycling, the Gyro team is able to save on its energy use while operating a quieter energy infrastructure.
